McGrath Real Estate Partners Breaks Ground on 279-Unit Apartment Community Near Texas A&M RELLIS Campus
Houston-based McGrath Real Estate Partners is developing The James, a 279-unit apartment community near Texas A&M University’s RELLIS innovation and technology campus. This project marks the second phase of CamWesT Crossing, a 47-acre mixed-use development located within the Bryan-College Station BioCorridor. The first phase delivered a four-story office building in 2019, with Phase II focusing on residential and supporting future commercial and retail infrastructure.
Situated on 10 acres near State Highway 47 and Health Science Center Parkway, The James is strategically positioned to serve a growing employment hub. It is close to the FUJIFILM Biotechnologies campus, a significant regional employer, and is anticipated to benefit from the planned Terafab semiconductor manufacturing facility by SpaceX and Tesla in nearby Grimes County. Barrett Kirk, Chief Investment Officer at McGrath Real Estate Partners, highlighted the project's alignment with markets experiencing sustained housing demand due to job creation and economic growth.
Scheduled to open early next year, The James will offer 302,865 square feet across three-story buildings, featuring one-, two-, and three-bedroom units ranging from 591 to 1,416 square feet. Amenities will include a resort-style swimming pool, fitness center, and an outdoor amphitheater. This development aims to provide high-quality living options for young professionals, tech and healthcare workers, researchers, and graduate students, addressing the housing needs of this expanding innovation corridor.
