Lakewood Approves 388-Unit Apartment Project Replacing Offices on Carson Street
Texas-based developer JPI has received approval from the City of Lakewood for a new 388-unit apartment complex. The project, located at 3200 E. Carson Street, will transform a nearly five-acre property by replacing a 1980s office building. Plans detail a five-story structure encompassing over 630,000 square feet, which includes residential units, amenity spaces, and a parking facility.
The site was reportedly acquired from AARP in December 2025. Architecture firm AO is credited with the design of the development. This Lakewood project is part of JPI's broader strategy in Southern California, with the company also pursuing residential initiatives in Gardena and actively constructing housing in West Carson and Downtown Long Beach.
For developers and investors, this project signifies the ongoing demand for multi-family housing in Los Angeles County and the viability of repurposing existing commercial properties to meet housing needs.
