Construction Begins on 26-Unit Lealman Heights Affordable Townhome Community in St. Petersburg
Construction has commenced on Lealman Heights, a new affordable housing community by Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside located at 4000 58th Avenue North in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County. The project is set to deliver 26 two-story townhomes, each featuring three bedrooms and approximately 1,500 square feet of living space. These homes are designed for qualifying buyers with incomes between 30 to 80 percent of the area median income, with prices ranging from $240,000 to $280,000.
Pinellas County has significantly contributed to the $10 million development, providing $2.29 million and placing the property into a community land trust to ensure long-term affordability. Homeowners are required to complete at least 100 "sweat equity" hours and attend educational courses. Vertical construction is projected to begin in summer 2027, with completion expected the following year. This initiative highlights a public-private partnership model for delivering much-needed affordable housing.
