Digi Power X Secures $200 Million Debt Financing for 40MW Alabama Data Center
Data center and energy infrastructure developer Digi Power X has secured a $200 million debt financing commitment for its 40MW data center project in Columbiana, Alabama. The funding, syndicated by Goldman Sachs and provided by a major lending institution, will support the facility's development. The project is planned in two phases: phase one will deliver 15MW of IT load by the end of 2026, followed by phase two adding 25MW incrementally by the end of Q1 2027, reaching a total capacity of 40MW.
The project remains on schedule, with wafer-scale chip company and cloud provider Cerebras having pre-leased the entire capacity of the site in May. Digi Power X, formerly known as Digihost, is transitioning from cryptocurrency mining to hosting AI hardware, launching US Data Centers in 2025 for AI and HPC colocation. This financing underscores the growing demand for AI infrastructure and the strategic pivot of firms to meet this need, despite the company's New York expansion plans facing local moratoriums.
