Casa Serra Italian Restaurant Secures 15-Year Lease at 227 Front Street in South Street Seaport
Italian restaurant Casa Serra has finalized a 15-year lease for 2,824 square feet at 227 Front Street in Lower Manhattan's South Street Seaport. The Durst Organization, the landlord, announced the deal, which includes an asking rent of $100 per square foot. Casa Serra, a sister concept to the East Village's House of Pasta, is anticipated to open this winter, bringing its popular Italian dishes to the historic district.
Jody Durst, president of the Durst Organization, highlighted the strong retail leasing momentum on Historic Front Street, citing Casa Serra's arrival alongside Kee’s Chocolates and Mesa Bar. This activity is attributed to a growing residential population, increased tourism, and returning office tenants in Lower Manhattan, all contributing to demand for new dining and retail options. Brokers from KSR, representing both the landlord and tenant, noted the Seaport's positive direction and thoughtful tenant mix curated by Durst.
The expansion of Casa Serra into the South Street Seaport reflects developer confidence in the neighborhood's continued growth and its appeal to diverse consumer bases. For developers and investors, this lease signifies the sustained viability and increasing attractiveness of retail spaces in revitalized urban centers.
