Lighthouse Point Yacht Club Begins $250 Million Redevelopment in Broward County
The Lighthouse Point Yacht Club in Broward County has commenced a $250 million redevelopment project at 2701 NE 42nd Street, Lighthouse Point. Developed and built by Terry Paterson of Paterson Project Management Inc., with architectural design by Annie Carruthers of Insite Design Group, the project will feature a new 45,850-square-foot private clubhouse, 21 luxury townhomes across six buildings, and a future custom single-family waterfront residence. The existing 78-slip deep-water marina will be retained.
This groundbreaking follows an extensive preconstruction phase spanning over seven years, which included approximately five years of entitlement proceedings and 28 public hearings. The approval process involved land-use amendments, zoning changes, and engineering reviews coordinated with the City of Lighthouse Point and Broward County. Initial land-use applications were filed in 2018 to accommodate the residential component. Revisions due to updated life-safety requirements and changes in commercial lending conditions further extended the timeline. Completion of the clubhouse is anticipated in 2028. This long-term project highlights the complexities and extended timelines often associated with large-scale waterfront mixed-use developments, particularly those involving significant residential components and existing club operations.
