West Hollywood Planning Commission Reviews Updated Designs for Sunset Strip Office Development
The West Hollywood Planning Commission is currently reviewing updated architectural renderings for a significant office and commercial development proposed for the Sunset Strip. Developer Faring, based in West Hollywood, plans to construct a five-story building at 9160-9176 Sunset Boulevard, replacing a former car dealership. The project, designed by Gensler, will feature 52,999 square feet of office space situated above ground-floor commercial units and an 85-car underground garage.
The architectural plans emphasize integrating the new structure into its surroundings. Gensler's design incorporates terraced decks and upper-level setbacks, strategically reducing the building's overall scale, especially towards the adjacent residential neighborhood located south of the Strip. These design elements also serve to create valuable outdoor amenity spaces for future office tenants. Although digital displays are being considered for the exterior, their approval process is separate from the main building's structural permits. Pending necessary approvals from the City of West Hollywood and other government agencies, construction is anticipated to span approximately 19 months, according to a previously circulated environmental study. This development signifies a continued evolution of the Sunset Strip's commercial landscape, offering new office inventory in a prime and highly visible location.
